“You can pay us the same as your current accountant but we’ll give you more” – This is the claim made by Iain Moffatt, KPMG’s UK head of regions.
That’s a great promise and one that is heavily tipped to disrupt the SME marketplace. KPMG have spent in excess of £40m bringing this new SME service to market – so I expect that it will be heavily marketed to start getting a return on that significant investment.
Throw down the gauntlet
I’m always happy to learn from others and I will watch this offering with great interest to see what “more” KPMG give to clients.
In fact I’d go as far as to recommend that one of our clients, paying us £33.50 / month, might want to try out the new KPMG service.
I am not aware of any restrictions on the type of client that KPMG are targeting or what definition they apply to SMEs. As we all know, businesses do come in all shapes and sizes and I can only assume that this promise has been made without any strings attached.
In fact I’ll add in a price promise of our own ..
For any SME business with a turnover of less than half a million pounds, CheapAccounting.co.uk will provide the same service that you get from KPMG for at least 20% less than you pay them in fees.
This could become just like the famous baked-bean price war at the supermarkets – good news for bean counters and their clients everywhere!
