In 2016/2017 I worked 10 months as a sole trader and 2 months on the CIS scheme for someone who stopped tax at 20%.
Is there a section for this on my SA return and do I just fill it out as normal?
The gross income (amount received plus the tax deducted from it) from your subcontract work should be included in your income from self employment. You should have received a CIS certificate to show the gross amount received.
You would then include the tax deducted (see the CIS certificate) in box 38 on the SA103 (short) or box 81 on the SA103 (full). The SA103 is the self assessment supplement that you complete if you are self employed.
Obviously as the deadline to file the self assessment in paper form has been passed you will need to file this online.
