As of 30 June 2016 the Confirmation Statement replaces the Annual Return.
If you own a limited company you need to file a Confirmation Statement at least once a year – even if your company is dormant.
There are serious consequences for not doing this including the risk that the company could be struck off.
The Confirmation Statement confirms that all of the information held about the company (directors, shareholders, registered office, person with significant control etc) is up to date. The statement must be filed at Companies House (not HMRC) along with the filing fee of £13.
The Confirmation Statement is completely different to the annual accounts.
This video, along with additional guidance on “people with significant control” should help you to complete the Confirmation Statement for your limited company.
