- Knowing your goals
Having clearly defined goals, objectives and ambitions is vital – knowing where you want to take your Accountancy Practice allows you to find the right path to get there. If you don’t know where you are going then any road will do!
- Thick skin
As success comes so do the critics – harden yourself to the often groundless criticism and sneers without becoming cynical.
- Enthusiasm and drive
Running an Accountancy Practice is not easy. There are no instant results. Success comes from hard work, long hours and determination – you need the drive and enthusiasm to keep at it.
- Courage of your conviction
If you don’t have faith in your abilities then how on earth do you expect others to have the same and to buy from you or use your services?
- Energy
Coupled with an effective way to take time out to recharge your batteries well away from your Accountancy Practice.
- Positivism coupled with a strong dose of realism
Being positive is crucial but being too positive can be seen as a touch naïve – so a dash of realism also needs to be added to the mix.
- Opportunities everywhere
Even when one door slams in your face, you look for the opportunity. There is always at least one to find.
- Shoulder the blame
There is no one to pass it onto when it is your Accountancy Practice – the blame stops with you! Trying to pass it to someone else could be just sour grapes.
- Confidence
You must be confident at all times and if you can’t be or are having a bad day – then act it!
- No such word as can’t
So many take pleasure in telling you that it cannot be done, it won’t work or you won’t succeed. It is important to never take no for an answer – can’t just doesn’t exist in your vocabulary.
